1/52 Baby It’s Cold Outside

We’ve finally settled on a project for 2011 that is a bit more light weight. It’s a 52 Project – Photo a Week for 2011. Enjoy!

We’ve been experiencing some dreary and very cold foggy days lately. While I had another shot in mind for this week’s theme (creative ice cube shots), my mind kept coming back to a local lake and I thought it would look cool (no pun intended) to see the fog over the water. We don’t often get fog (for very long) in Meadow Vista so I took advantage of the opportunity.

Converted to B/W and applied a selenium filter to enhance the chilling effect.

Our nephew Nick (far right) is embarking on a 2 year experience in Nicaragua with the Peace Corps. We couldn’t be more proud! This was taken during a combo farewell and birthday party (Toni & Megan). One thing I can say about our family is that they love to party and truly enjoy each other’s company…most of the time.

It can be unsettling to be separated from the litter, but it’s a necessary part of the puppy’s development. Today Ora and I spent some time in another room of the house playing and exploring new sights and sounds. To engage her, I brought some fun toys into the room. Funny thing is she found that the towel under the food bowl to be the most interesting. Here she is resting and posing for a photo.

Only 6 pups to go!

I believe this is ‘pink’.

Okay, not really in the restroom but on the way. Better figure out a new project or I could end up in trouble 🙂

Saw these cool pendants in the restroom at Paul Martin’s American Bistro. We were here to celebrate the completion of our 365 project. For the record, I did not use my camera 🙂

A theme is emerging. As we ponder what photo project to pick up next, I seem to have been drawn to my weird interest of taking pictures in public restrooms. Don’t worry, I’m not a freak…it’s just that you find some of the most interesting things when out in public.

This, one of many pictures displayed in an accessible restroom provided a tribute to devices of mobility. Wheelchairs, prosthetics, crutches, etc. and I just loved the expressions on these little guy’s faces so I couldn’t resist a POTD.

365/365 We’ve Done It…Now What?

Over the past year I’ve joined my 365 friends in an incredible challenge and have often endured the anguish of trying to come up with a clever idea for a POTD. It looks like Paula is acting out what I was going through today. But then, I just relaxed, threw my camera in my bag and went off to enjoy a wonderful dinner and performance by Paula Poundstone in Grass Valley.

Not only did I have a great New Years Eve, but I also came away with several choices for a POTD. If I’ve learned anything from this project, it’s been to always have a camera (or iPhone) handy, because you just never know when you may see something worth capturing.

Congratulations to all completing or working on their 365 project! Happy New Year!!!

Oh, and I’ll have my camera with me tomorrow too…not sure if there’s a project in store, but just in case. 🙂

363/365 Painting Is a Stinky Job

•December 31, 2010 • 2 Comments

The painters have been working non-stop to finish the interior painting of our new house. In addition to the walls, they have stained and lacquered all of the cabinets, interior doors, and wood trimmed windows. We come to see the progress often but without the appropriate equipment can only stay for a short time. Painting is a stinky job!

364/365 Fun With Lamp Shades

One of the many things I’ve learned over the past year is how interesting even the most common household article can seem with a little imagination and a keen eye. Today’s POTD is nothing other than a close up of a lamp shade.
